Staff Bio's
Tori Bailey is CEO of Muscle Shoals Broadcasting and general manager of WZZA radio station. She also serves as W.C. Handy Music Festival chairperson and hosts her own daily talk show/public affairs program, “A Look at the Shoals,” on WZZA Radio. She is former national president and current national treasurer of the National Black Programmers Coalition, an industry-based organization that provides workshops, networking and training for music industry members throughout the country.
Rev. Theodore Lindsey, host of The “Saturday Morning Gospel Express Train,” started in radio as a 14 year-old teenager. He trained at WNOO Radio Station, Chattanooga, Tennessee; worked at WMOC Radio in that same market as well as other stations; KMJC, El Cajon City, California and 92.3, San Diego, and Stringer News Reporter for the National Black Network (NBN). In addition, he’s enjoyed a long relationship with WZZA, “The Soul of the Shoals” off and on through the years. In addition to working with the Shoals area’s Fatherhood Initiative Program, Mr. Lindsey serves as a WZZA Senior Sales Executive.
Tomeeka Byrd, traffic director at WZZA-AM Radio Station, Tuscumbia-Muscle Shoals Alabama. As traffic director, her duty is to make sure all commercials are to be on the program log as scheduled, as well as syndicated programs, and our in house station elements. She is also responsible for providing affidavits for clients, showing proof that their commercials are running at their desired times. She has been employed at WZZA for nearly five years, and proud to say, during my time she have become family. WZZA radio station has helped me in many ways, to realize the need for a public service radio station. Radio is not all about music. It’s about the need to know things surrounding you and your community, and finding a way to help solve those problems. She is proud to part of WZZA’s family.
In Memorial
Dwight Lamon Winston, a native Tuscumbian, was a 1977 graduate of Deshler High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Vocal Music Performance in 1982 and Class B Certification in Vocal/Choral Music Education in 1998; both from the University of North Alabama. Mr. Winston was pursuing a Master of Education Degree. He started his broadcasting career at WZZA in 1987, as an on-air radio personality and left in 1992 to pursue other interests. He has worked at WSBM 1340-AM and FIX FM. Mr. Winston rejoined the staff of WZZA in April 2005 as Operations Manager and News Director. In addition to his work in the radio industry, Mr. Winston was an Educator, Minister of Music and served on numerous boards and organizations throughout the area and state. In addition to his WZZA family, he leaves his wife, Beverly Winston, and two sons: Brandon & Braxton.
